How to Draw a Cartoon Snowman – let’s Get Initiated!

Step 1

If you want to take your snowman to the next level, you can add hats and other clothing to make him look cool. When we start this first step, we will draw a hat for this snowman design. Snowmen are also typical at Christmas, so there will also be a Christmas detail. For the brim of this top hat, draw two curved lines close to each other, as shown in the reference image.

Then we’ll remove a holly plant stuck in the hat to give it that Christmas touch we mentioned! This can be drawn with three small circles grouped with three pointed leaves attached. Finally, use a few more curved lines for the body of the hat outline, and then it’s time for step 2!

Step 2

For this second step of this guide on drawing a cartoon snowman, we will remove the head of this cute snowman. Before outlining the round head, we will first draw its carrot nose. We’ll start with this nose, sticking out from the outline.

The nose is rounded on the far right and becomes thinner and more pointed as it progresses. It will also have some textural details with simple lines throughout. For the eyes, we’ll use two solid black ovals with some white accents, and below that will also be a simple smiling mouth. Finally, end this step with a circular head.

Step 3

When it comes to clothing, we won’t stop at a hat! In this third part of your cartoon snowman drawing, we will add a scarf for this cute snowman. First, draw a long, slightly curved rectangular shape that falls from the neck for one scarf thread.

Then use some round lines for the scarf taped around the neck. Then there will be another thread falling next to the other. Finally, draw three round shapes along its belly for the rock buttons. Then it’s period for step 4 of the guide!

Step 4

The next step should be easy, as we will outline his body. Fortunately, snowmen usually have a simple round structure on each body part. For the body, we’ll draw a large, simple circular shape starting and ending at each end of the scarf around the neck.

The contact image will offer you what this should look like. We will then finish this step by adding a slightly curved line at the base of the ground it is standing on. We’ll be ready for some final details in the next phase of the guide, so let’s proceed when you’re ready.

Step 5

We’ll add some color to this drawing when we get to the final step of this guide on drawing a cartoon snowman, but first, we have some final details to add. Precisely, we will remove the arms of this cartoon snowman. Like many real snowmen, this one has components made of pointy sticks. We’ll draw them as skinny shapes with spiky twigs sticking out of the ends.

Once you’ve removed these arms, you’re ready to go. Guide step! However, be sure to add any additional details you’d like. You can draw a background or change details, like how to customize this drawing! How will you finish it before the final step?

Step 6

As promised, it’s time to finish this fantastic snowman drawing with some colors! This is a part where you can have fun getting creative, but here are a few ways to color this snowman to get you started.

We use blues for the had with reds and greens for the holly. Next, we use a warm orange for the nose and red for the scarf. We end up with browns for the arms and light grays for the snowman’s shading. Will you use colors similar to what we use?
